Flaxseed Helps Prevent Cancer

nbcf ribbon Recent studies by the University of Toronto and Harvard University revealed that daily intake of flaxseed has been proven to potentially reduce the growth of breast cancer tumors. Flaxseed is also high in Omega-3 fatty acids, which some studies have shown to help decrease the risk of death from breast cancer. Research has also shown that women who regularly eat foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids over many years are less likely to develop breast cancer.

Flaxseed is one of the richest sources of lignans, which acts as phytoestrogen and has been shown in some lab studies to interfere with mammary breast tumor formations. Two recent studies 1,2 have found that women with breast cancer had significantly lower levels of lignan phytoestrogen, a chemical found in flaxseeds.

Early Detection Plan Saves Lives

The best way to fight breast cancer is to have a plan that helps you detect the disease in its early states. According to the National Cancer Institue:

  • Nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
  • 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime.
  • Over 30% of women are diagnosed after breast cancer has spread beyond the localized stage.
  • When breast cancer is detected early (localized stage), the 5-year survival rate is 98%.

An Early Detection Plan is an interactive tool to help remind you to schedule:
